2. Udo Island, a place you will never want to leave (Top 10 Must Vi...

Udo Island is the biggest island among the 62 islands in Jeju, surrounded by an ocean always shimmering with a crystal clear emerald green. ‘Udo’ refers to the formation of the Island, resembling a resting cow, a quaint name that seems to suit, yet also belie, the magnificence of the island. With Haenyos, green fields, black stone walls, and a lighthouse that blends in with nature, Udo Island is surely the most Jeju-like island.

The best way to enjoy the island is to simply go for a stroll, taking in all the little intricacies of your surroundings. Resist the temptation to ride one of the bicycles or scooters lined up at the entrance to Udo Port. If you take your time and go for a walk, your experience will feel more like taking in paintings at an art gallery rather than a typical scenic tour. When you follow the Udo Olle course (8.8km from Cheonjin port, 5.6 km from Howemokdong port), you will soon ascend to the highest point on Udo Island, Udobong (132m). Walking across its elevated slope, you will see not only Seongsan Ilchulbong, but also the main island of Jeju.

Walk slowly – Jeju Olle 1-1 Course, Udo Olle

This is a 11.3 km course starting at Cheonjin port (or you can start from any port since it goes around the entire island). It takes about 4 to 5 hours at normal pace, but if you want to stop along the way to enjoy the scenery at Hongjodangoe Beach (Rhodolith Beach) and Udobong, it might take closer to 6 hours.

The price is 5,000 Won per person (3000 Won for a child).

· Bus stops: Cheonjin port – Jiduchungsa (Udobong) – Gummulle – Dongan Gyeonggul – Udo Museum – Seobinbaeksa Beach – Tianjin port

Fun and freedom with bicycles, electronic bicycles, and scooters

There are a lot of rental places that rent scooters and bicycles in front of Udo Port. You can rent either of them on an hourly rate. It takes about 3 hours to look around the entire island by bike. If you are planning on stopping by well-known restaurants and taking pictures at the many landmarks, it is best to go across to the island from Seongsan Port or Jongdal-ri Udo Dock by around 9 or 10 in the morning and come back with the last ship between 5 and 6pm.
